Promotion

Under the umbrella of the Association for the Promotion and Protection of Prekmurje Specialities, providers present and promote their offer at high-profile ethno-culinary events, where Prekmurje is presented in a holistic way, as a region of tradition and friendly and hospitable people, which is perceived as exotic in urban environments. The biggest traditional event is the Festival of »Prekmurska šunka« and »Prekmurska gibanica« in Murska Sobota.

Promotions are also carried out at fairs, in shopping centers, in catering and at other events throughout Slovenia and in neighboring countries.

Festival "prekmurska šunka" and "prekmurska gibanica"

The Festival of »Prekmurska šunka« and »Prekmurska gibanica« takes place every year at the beginning of September in the centre of Murska Sobota. The festival organises a sensory evaluation of »Prekmurska gibanica« and »Prekmurska šunka« from over 40 different producers. Visitors can see and taste an exhibition of both products, taste traditional and modern dishes and fine Prekmurje wines, watch a demonstration of how to make »Prekmurska gibanica« and try their hand at determining the weight of a »Prekmurska šunka«. And there are many stalls offering a wide range of high-quality local food and traditional crafts products. Local musicians provide an even more varied and enjoyable atmosphere.
